1. Who you are agreeing with
This website (browngirlsmoneymoves.com and any subdomains or successor domains) and the Brown Girls Money Moves brand, podcast, newsletter, and events are operated by:
LuxStory Media Inc. — doing business as Brown Girls Money Moves (“BGMM”).
A for-profit corporation incorporated under the Business Corporations Act (Ontario), Canada.
Contact: info@browngirlangels.com
By accessing or using this site, the podcast, the newsletter, or any BGMM event, you (“you” or “User”) agree to these Terms of Use (“Terms”) and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or our services.
2. Relationship between BGMM and Brown Girl Angels
Brown Girls Money Moves is a media and community brand operated by LuxStory Media Inc. It is editorially and operationally associated with the Brown Girl Angels Collective but is a separate organization with its own terms, privacy practices, and legal status. Nothing on this site or in any BGMM channel constitutes participation in, or representation of, Brown Girl Angels Collective unless we expressly say so.
3. Nature of the services
BGMM offers:
- a website with editorial content;
- a podcast and related video content distributed through third-party platforms;
- a newsletter delivered through Beehiiv;
- by-application community programming, including the Didi Membership, Brown Girls Desi Dinners, Chai & Chaat, and other events; and
- speaking engagements and partnerships under the BGMM brand.
Acceptance into any membership or event is at the sole discretion of LuxStory Media Inc. and is governed by the specific rules and regulations of that program (see Section 6).
4. Not investment, legal, tax, or professional advice
You are solely responsible for any investment, financial, legal, tax, or business decisions you make. We make no representations about the suitability, accuracy, or completeness of any content for your situation. Always consult a qualified professional licensed in your jurisdiction.
5. Eligibility
You must be at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction (in Ontario, 18) to use BGMM services. Membership programs may have additional eligibility criteria (e.g., professional seniority, geographic presence, or other criteria) set out in the program’s rules.
6. Membership rules and regulations
Specific rules and regulations for each membership (including the Didi Membership) and for each event format (dinners, Chai & Chaat, etc.) are published separately and incorporated by reference into these Terms once published. Until those program-specific rules are published, the following baseline applies to any applicant or attendee:
- provide accurate information in your application;
- treat other members, guests, partners, hosts, and staff with respect — harassment, discrimination, and retaliation are grounds for immediate removal without refund;
- respect community confidentiality — what is shared at a BGMM event stays in the room unless the speaker has explicitly authorized sharing;
- do not record, photograph, or publish content from a closed BGMM event without express consent of LuxStory Media Inc. and the individuals featured;
- follow the dietary, accessibility, and conduct guidelines communicated for each event;
- pay any applicable membership or event fees by the stated deadline;
- do not use the BGMM platform to solicit, sell, or pitch members without prior written consent of LuxStory Media Inc.
LuxStory Media Inc. may, at its sole discretion, suspend, refuse, or revoke membership or event access for breach of these rules or for conduct it considers incompatible with the BGMM community.
7. Fees, refunds, and cancellations
Membership and event fees, if any, are stated at the point of application or registration. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, fees are non-refundable. Where Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002 grants you statutory rights (for example, in respect of certain online or pre-paid services), those rights apply in addition to anything in these Terms. Refunds required by law will not be refused.
8. Intellectual property
The names “Brown Girls Money Moves,” “BGMM,” “Didi Membership,” “Brown Girls Desi Dinners,” “Chai & Chaat,” the BGMM wordmark and stylings, the website design, the podcast audio and transcripts, the newsletter content, and the photography commissioned by BGMM are owned by LuxStory Media Inc. or our licensors. You may share podcast episodes through the platforms that host them, link to our site, and quote brief excerpts of our editorial content with attribution. Any other reproduction, derivative work, or commercial use requires our prior written permission.
If you submit feedback, ideas, or suggestions to BGMM, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual licence to use them without obligation to you.
9. User-submitted content
If you post, send, or otherwise submit content to BGMM (e.g., DMs, comments, applications, voice memos, podcast guest submissions), you confirm that you own or have the right to share it, and you grant LuxStory Media Inc. a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, edit, and publish it in connection with the BGMM brand. You can withdraw this licence for unpublished material at any time; once material is published, the licence continues for material already published.
10. Recording and photography at events
Some BGMM events are recorded or photographed. You will be told in advance when this is the case. By attending such events, you consent to your image, voice, or likeness being captured and used by LuxStory Media Inc. for BGMM marketing, editorial, and archival purposes. If you do not wish to appear, you can opt out by notifying us before or at the event and we will accommodate the request.
11. Third-party services
We use and link to third-party services including Beehiiv, Tally, Dealum, Google, Zoom, Anchor, Spotify, Apple, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Substack, Notion, Canva, Calendly, and Stripe. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and LuxStory Media Inc. is not responsible for their content, availability, or practices.
12. No warranties
The site and services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any content is complete, accurate, or current.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LuxStory Media Inc., its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the site, podcast, newsletter, or events. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to BGMM will not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (for example, liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence).
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LuxStory Media Inc. and its representatives from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from (a) your breach of these Terms or program-specific rules, (b) your misuse of the site, podcast, newsletter, or events, or (c) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.
15. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the site, the newsletter, an event, or a membership at any time and for any reason consistent with these Terms and applicable law, including for breach of these Terms or program rules. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law — will survive.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated through the newsletter or a prominent notice on the site. Continued use of BGMM after the effective date of a change constitutes acceptance.
17. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute related to BGMM are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You and LuxStory Media Inc. submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Toronto, Ontario, except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction.
18. Severability and entire agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any program-specific membership or event rules, constitute the entire agreement between you and LuxStory Media Inc. regarding BGMM.
